Violin Building in Mittenwald
In the 17th century Matthias Klotz brought the art of violin building to Mittenwald. Even today, artists from all over the world visit Mittenwald to buy their string instruments (cello, violin etc.), visit concerts or participate in the new International Competition of Violin Building that is held every year in June.

Many young artists come here to study at the famous school of violin-building.

Mittenwald Violin Museum
Our small gem of a museum exhibits very old instruments made by Jakob Stainer, Matthias Klotz and other Mittenwald artists. In addition the museum shows original furniture, traditional dresses and rooms of Mittenwald. A violin builder occasionally works in the small museum workshop and will answer your questions about the art of violin-building
